A consultative meeting was hosted by the Iranian Nursing Organization, bringing together representatives from the Ministry of Health, nursing managers from Tehran, and several hospital directors. The session focused on developing a support package to ensure adequate healthcare services for health system employees in public hospitals.
Key issues discussed included the challenges faced by health sector employees, especially those from the Ministry of Health, in accessing healthcare services. Contrary to public perception, these employees are required to fully cover their health expenses and lack special services for facilitating healthcare access or cost coverage through supplementary insurance. Public hospitals often provide healthcare services to Ministry of Health employees based on their own discretion.
Additionally, inconsistencies in healthcare services and facilities provided by medical universities for nurses and healthcare staff across different provinces were highlighted. It was emphasized that nurses and Ministry of Health employees working in public hospitals deserve adequate healthcare services and should benefit from comprehensive supplementary insurance coverage without incurring costs.
Dr. Ahmad Nejatian, General Director of the Iranian Nursing Organization, announced that the organization would present the proposals from this session to the Minister of Health in the form of a support package. This initiative aims to improve welfare services for health sector employees in medical centers in the near future.
Participants in the meeting also stressed the importance of maintaining the dignity of healthcare workers when receiving medical services, both financially and spiritually.
